The following are work that you do not need a permit for.:
- detached shed. Note that different cities may have different sizes. Typical is 120sf x 8 ft tall. So you can have 10 x 12 x 8, or 8 x 15 x 8. only 1 is allowed.
- painting – interior and exterior.
- flooring – replacing or new flooring such as hardwood, laminate, LVT, carpets, tiles in non-wet areas
- appliances – replacing only
- faucets – replacing only
- electrical outlets & switches – replacing only
- light fixtures – replacing only
- wall tear out and repairs – minor and non fire-rated areas only
- interior door replacements
While the above work can be done without a permit, we highly recommend all work be done by a licensed General contractor or professional who has worker comp and liability insurance coverage.
